It's a big block Chevy. 8.2 liters = 502 cubes, which is one of the most common crate engines EVAR. He just has custom valve cover artwork. Distributor smushed against the firewall, GM alternator, and DAT VALVE COVER SHAPE...
Check out the valve cover, then compare to this:

Hmmm, I'd much rather keep the 5.3l. It's not as if that can't make silly power anyway. The stock one in the Vantage made 428bhp in 1977. I can think of a couple of other outputs from 1977, and none of them are anywhere near as impressive.

What's wrong in this picture? Smoked tail lights like this shouldn't be allowed, that's what's wrong.
